Children's play area surfacing

Rubber safety flooring, EPDM wet-pour and soft artificial grass, specified to the critical fall height of your equipment.

The surface is the safety equipment

The surface is the safety equipment

Play equipment is only as safe as what is underneath it. Every piece has a critical fall height, and the surface has to be thick enough to absorb a fall from that height.

Get the thickness wrong and the certificate is worthless. We specify from the equipment schedule, not from a catalogue.

  • Critical fall height calculated per equipment item
  • EPDM wet-pour in any colour or pattern
  • Rubber tiles where sections may be lifted later
  • Soft artificial grass for landscaped play zones

Common questions

Children's Play Area FAQ

How thick does play area rubber need to be?
It depends entirely on the critical fall height of the equipment — from 30 mm for low items up to 110 mm for tall climbing frames.
Does it drain in monsoon?
Yes. Wet-pour and tiles are porous and drain vertically through the surface into the base.
How long does it last?
Five to ten years depending on sun exposure and traffic. EPDM holds colour better than recycled rubber.
