Volleyball court construction

Indoor synthetic, outdoor acrylic and sand courts built to FIVB dimensions, with the run-off and clear height the game needs.

Diving is part of the game

Volleyball players hit the floor constantly. A surface that grazes skin or jars joints will shorten a season, so cushioning and friction matter more here than in most court sports.

Indoors that means a cushioned synthetic floor. Outdoors it means either a textured acrylic with a shock layer, or properly graded and drained sand.

  • Cushioned surface that forgives dives and falls
  • 7 m clear height minimum over the court
  • 3 m run-off around the playing area
  • Sand courts graded and drained to depth

Common questions

Volleyball FAQ

What sand is used for beach volleyball?
Washed, rounded sand free of stone and silt, laid at least 400 mm deep over a drainage bed.
How much space do I need?
24 m × 15 m overall for a court with full run-off. Recreational courts can work in less.
Can a volleyball court share with basketball?
Yes — it is one of the most common multi-sport combinations. We mark both in contrasting line colours.
